SMART Lab Graduate Assistant
Job Summary: The SMART Lab is currently seeking candidates for one (1) Graduate Assistant position. Responsibilities will include:
- Performing administrative tasks to support the SMART Lab academic program
- Assisting with routine program management, including facilitation of daily program operations, support of student staff, and maintenance of facility and equipment
- Responding to inquiries about the SMART Lab, explaining policies, and resolving issues in accordance with established guidelines
- Independently managing and overseeing the center during Sunday hours of operation
- Designing and producing promotional materials, signage, digital content, flyers, instructional materials, and reports using appropriate design tools
- Preparing and editing presentation materials, incorporating relevant content, graphics, and layout elements
- Delivering presentations or orientations to students and staff as part of program operations and outreach
- Providing technical assistance to students and staff using software related to SMART Lab services
- Monitoring center email and Teams accounts
- Representing the SMART Lab at campus outreach events and initiatives
Nature of Work: This position reports to the Director of the SMART Lab. The ideal candidate will have expertise or experience in the following areas:
- Administrative support, particularly in a higher education or academic setting
- Customer service or support, especially in working with students, staff, or faculty
- Use of graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Publisher, or similar)
- Attention to detail and creativity in designing promotional and educational content
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, contribute ideas, and solve problems
- Comfort in learning new computer software and providing basic technical support
- Experience working in student-centered environments, such as learning centers, tutoring labs, or academic resource programs

Schedule: Minimum commitment of 20.00 hours per week. Work hours will be on-site at the SMART Lab (USF Tampa Campus Library). Schedule is variable according to class schedule and SMART Lab hours of operation. Sunday work hours from 12:30-5:00 PM are required.
Pay Rate:
- $19.62/hour for Master’s Level
- $27.72/hour for Doctoral Level
Benefits: This position is a job code 9185 Graduate Assistant position and is subject to all requirements and benefits under the USF/GAU Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position makes the employee eligible for an "out-of-college" tuition waiver, if approved and funded by their college/program. The SMART Lab does not provide funding for GA tuition waivers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Admitted USF graduate student
- Currently in good academic standing
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of work experience in higher education administration
- Work experience in marketing, print/digital layout, and/or creative design
- Demonstrated experience or expertise in the areas listed above

Federal Work Study (FWS) Program Assistant
Job Summary: The Federal Work Study (FWS) Program Assistant is responsible for managing the front desk and helping all students who utilize the services of the SMART Lab. Candidates must possess excellent communication and customer service skills as they serve as a bridge between students, faculty and university staff who come to the Lab. Duties include answering student questions and advising students on SMART Lab services and policies; referring students appropriately; assisting in SMART Lab testing procedures and other administrative tasks; and answering a multi-line telephone.
Nature of Work: This position reports to the Program Manager of the SMART Lab. As a result of this position, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate basic employability skills such as: timeliness to work, appropriate dress, interpersonal communication, and time management
- Receive and solicit feedback from supervisor and effectively apply feedback on the job
- Assess the workplace and demonstrate how personal talents, skills, and knowledge fit into the employer’s goals, mission, and vision
- Demonstrate their professional brand (identity)
- Communicate transferable and functional skills to prospective employers

Schedule: Commitment of 10 – 20 hours per week, dependent on FWS award. Work hours will be on-site at the SMART Lab (USF Tampa Campus Library). Schedule is variable according to class schedule and SMART Lab hours of operation. This job will require some evening and weekend work hours.
Pay Rate: $15/hour
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Federal Work Study (FWS) financial aid recipient
- Currently enrolled USF undergraduate student
- Currently in good academic standing
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.00
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed at least one year of enrollment at USF
- Prior customer service experience
