Dear colleagues,
Our team has shown extraordinary flexibility and resilience in adapting to changing work environments in recent years. Throughout the challenges brought on by the pandemic, for example, you continued to support our mission with commitment and creativity — whether remotely, in hybrid formats or in person. We are deeply grateful for that dedication.
Over the past several years post-pandemic, we have re-committed to the kind of in-person collaboration that strengthens our community, fosters innovation and enhances the overall experience for those we serve. Many units across the university have already successfully transitioned back to fully in-person work and are currently leveraging its benefits.
Consistent with these ongoing efforts, we are initiating a full return to in-person work for all remaining university employees currently on remote or hybrid schedules. We anticipate this change to in-person work to be fully implemented beginning Sept. 2, 2025. This shift aligns with broader trends across industries and will help USF realize further opportunities for cross-functional collaboration, mentorship and long-term success.
We recognize that certain roles have historically operated remotely or hybrid due to the nature of their work, and we do not anticipate this return-to-office announcement to impact them. Additionally, certain unique situations involving pre-existing contractual arrangements, infrastructure limitations or space constraints may require temporary flexibility until these situations can be addressed. These instances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by unit leaders in coordination with Central Human Resources.
If you have questions relating to this transition, please reach out to your supervisor or HR Business Partner for help navigating this process and ensuring a smooth path forward.
Thank you again for your continued commitment, professionalism and all you do to support our university community. We look forward to the renewed energy and collaboration that in-person work will bring across our campuses.
Sincerely,
